Soft does not mean weak — pale tones flatten fast under restaurant overhead lighting, and saturated pinks turn neon under direct sun in a backyard. I plan the palette against the actual room first: Verdi Garden in Encino takes a different blue from Casa Blanca Banquet Hall in Montebello, even when both clients ask for "blue." The Honey Bee Garden setup at Pinocchio's in Pasadena read one way under their warm pendant lighting; the same palette outside at Eden Garden in Glendora would have read another. Roughly a quarter of my projects are baby showers, and that volume is what teaches the palette logic.
