Baby Scarlett's Shower

Montebello Casa Blanca Banquet Hall October 2025

About This Installation

An elegant pink baby shower at Casa Blanca Banquet Hall in Montebello. I designed a custom structure with a large pink silk bow and artificial flower arrangements, a two-layered light-up wavy arch, and baby cubes with light pink fabric bows. The blush pink, pale pink, and rose gold balloon palette created a romantic, feminine atmosphere.

The blush, pale pink, and rose gold palette was chosen against the kind of mixed-temperature lighting a banquet hall always produces — warm chandeliers fighting cooler accent fixtures along the walls. Pale pink alone would have washed out under the chandelier hot spots; rose gold by itself would have read brassy. Layering the three tones held the panel readable across the full lighting spread of the room, and the rose gold picked up the warm wall sconces without amplifying them.

The composition was built around three coordinated objects rather than a single backdrop wall. A custom structure carrying the oversized silk bow and artificial floral arrangements anchored the photo zone at adult height. A two-layered wavy arch, lit from inside, sat as the secondary mass — the double-curve geometry broke the rectangular sightlines a banquet hall always defaults to. Baby cubes with their own small fabric bows sat at floor level, scaled for the inevitable low-angle shots of Scarlett's mother on the chair beside them. Organic balloon garland in the three-tone blend tied the three masses into a single composition rather than three loose vignettes.

The silk bow on the main structure was hand-tied in my studio at a scale that would read from across the hall — small bows on a banquet-hall scale install always disappear in wide shots. Artificial floral was the deliberate choice over fresh; the install had to hold from setup through the full event without wilting under the venue's warm air handling, and the floral was sourced and arranged in-house to color-match the balloon palette exactly. Nothing on the panel was pulled from rental stock.

Casa Blanca Banquet Hall in Montebello gave the install reliable room geometry and reliable load-in access, which is what a banquet hall is supposed to do — but the lighting is fixed and uniform across the room, which removes the option of using a dim corner as a frame. My team placed the structure where the chandelier overheads were strongest, so the silk bow's texture and the floral detail read in close-up shots rather than flattening into silhouette.

A pink baby shower at this scale lives or dies on whether the palette stays disciplined — three tones, no fourth, no contrast color sneaking in to spoil the cohesion.
