Baby Habib's Baby Shower — Bunny Cutout in Lakewood
About This Installation
A gentle, nursery-ready baby shower at a private home in Lakewood. I designed a white backdrop with a custom pink text decal and a cute bunny cutout, softened by fabric pink bows and a linking arrangement of white balloons. The organic balloon garland stayed in white and baby pink — a classic baby-girl palette done with enough restraint to feel modern rather than sugary. Tactile finishes like the fabric bows and layered whites photographed beautifully against the home's natural light, making every angle a usable photo. Full design, delivery, and setup handled on-site.
The white and baby-pink palette was tuned for a domestic interior — Lakewood home light, midday, indirect rather than direct. Pink at that scale is the easiest color to push into sugary territory, so I sized the pink ratio low and let white carry the field, keeping the soft pink as a controlled accent on the bows and a portion of the garland. Under the home's natural light the whites layered into separate values instead of flattening into one bright surface, which is what makes a nursery-toned shower photograph as composed rather than washed out.
A single white backdrop carried the headline. The custom pink text decal was vinyl-cut in my studio and applied to the panel face so the type read as inset rather than pasted on, and a bunny cutout anchored the lower portion of the composition where most cake-table photos crop into. Organic balloon garland in white and baby pink draped across the top edge and broke the rectangular geometry. Fabric pink bows were threaded into the garland at irregular intervals — soft material against latex gave the install a textural mix that pure balloon work cannot. A linking arrangement of white balloons extended below the panel and softened the edge where the install met the cake table.
The fabric bows were sourced specifically because nothing in the balloon catalog gives that drape. Latex holds shape, fabric falls — and a baby shower at close camera range needs both. Every other fabricated piece, including the panel, the vinyl decal, and the bunny cutout, was built by my team in our studio so the proportions matched the photo zone the family had chosen rather than reading as catalog parts arranged near each other.
A private home in Lakewood offers palette control but not wall-geometry control — ceiling height, window placement, and dominant sightlines are all fixed before load-in. I sized the backdrop and the garland cascade to fit the room's natural photo wall — the one with the most usable light and the least visual clutter behind it — rather than imposing a venue-scaled install onto a domestic space. The bunny cutout sat at a height that worked equally for floor-level guest photos and seated-with-cake shots.
A baby shower this soft only works if the restraint shows in the palette ratio — and the white-dominant mix kept the pink as an accent rather than a saturation.
