Baby Nicholas's Shower
About This Installation
An elegant baby shower at Regency Event Venue in Glendale. I designed a setup with a dusty blue open arch and an in-house built 3D 2-layered arch in cream featuring vinyl 'Baby Nicholas' lettering. Organic balloon garland in cream, dusty blue, dark green, fog, and gold chrome tones framed the setup, with two large helium balloons floating above. A fresh flower arrangement at the base and the Grace white 12-slat cake stand added polished finishing touches to this refined celebration.
Cream, dusty blue, dark green, fog, and gold chrome framed the layered arches at Regency Event Venue in a palette built for the room's specific lighting — a dedicated event space with controlled overheads that read slightly cool. The cream pulled warm and held the dominant tonal share; the dusty blue and fog sat as middle tones; the gold chrome accents kicked back the overhead light at angles a matte gold finish wouldn't have caught. The dark green did the anchoring work at the base of the composition, grounding the otherwise airy palette.
Two arches in conversation. The dusty blue open arch sat behind the in-house built 3D 2-layered cream arch — open frame paired with solid frame, so the composition had both depth and a readable focal plane. Vinyl-cut 'Baby Nicholas' lettering ran across the cream arch face, sized to read from the back of the room. Two large helium balloons floated above the arch assembly as upper anchors, breaking the rectangular silhouette of the venue's ceiling line. Organic balloon garland in the full five-tone palette draped the front arch, and a fresh flower arrangement at the base of the install grounded the composition with live botanical texture against the fabricated panels.
My team built both arches in our studio — the 3D 2-layered cream arch is one of the more complex panel structures in my catalog, with the inner and outer layers sized to create a visible shadow depth when lit from the front. The Grace white 12-slat cake stand was sourced from my reusable inventory of in-house pieces; rental cake stands at this price point reliably read as rental in close-up photos, and a baby shower at Regency deserves better than that. Fresh florals were arranged the morning of for color match against the fog and dusty blue.
Regency Event Venue in Glendale offers reliable room geometry and consistent overhead lighting, which means the install can be planned to a fixed sightline rather than improvised against unknown conditions. I positioned the layered arches against the venue's clearest backdrop wall and oriented the helium balloons to fill the negative space between the arch apex and the ceiling. The gold chrome accents were placed where the overhead lighting would catch them at a consistent angle from the seated guest perspective.
The two-arch layered approach gave the photographs depth that a single-panel install couldn't have carried — the front arch held the lettering, the back arch held the room.
