Natalie's Strawberry Baby Shower at Café Amici

Beverly Hills Café Amici September 2025

About This Installation

A playful strawberry-themed baby shower at Café Amici in Beverly Hills. I designed a pink backdrop with red custom text and strawberry stickers, paired with a red-and-white gingham backdrop panel for a classic picnic feel. A white round cake stand anchored the photo area. The organic balloon garland in red, white, and light pink picked up the strawberry palette directly and read clean rather than overdone. Beverly Hills restaurant installs have their own coordination considerations — sidewalk load-in windows, parking, valet — and my team handles every logistic so the host doesn't have to think about it. Full design, delivery, and install.

The red, white, and light pink palette was picked to mirror the strawberry itself — the red as the dominant tone of the fruit, the light pink as the soft interior flesh, and white as the gingham counterpoint that pulled the theme into picnic territory rather than dessert-shop saturation. Under Café Amici's mixed warm interior lighting, the red held its value without going to brown in shadow, and the light pink kept the panel from reading too aggressively for a baby shower context. A strawberry palette done in pure red and green would have read as Italian-restaurant decor; the pink swap kept the install in baby shower register.

Two backdrops, two functions. The pink panel carried the red custom headline text and the strawberry stickers as the primary photo zone — the stickers placed at deliberate intervals rather than scattered, so each one read as a graphic note instead of as confetti. The red-and-white gingham backdrop sat beside it as the secondary panel, its pattern handling the picnic reference directly while the pink panel held the personalization. The white round cake stand anchored the floor between them, scaled to bridge the visual gap so the two panels read as a single coordinated install in wide shots. Organic balloon garland in the three-tone palette draped across both panel tops.

The gingham panel was a deliberate fabrication choice — printed gingham at this scale had to be color-matched to the pink panel's red text exactly, which meant printing in-house rather than sourcing from a stock pattern. Strawberry stickers were vinyl-cut individually in studio at varied scales, so the panel's surface had a small visual rhythm rather than a uniform sticker grid. The cake stand was matched to the pink panel's matte finish so it read as part of the composition, not as a rental object dropped into the frame.

Café Amici in Beverly Hills runs as an active restaurant, which means the install timeline had to thread a narrow load-in window — sidewalk access, valet coordination, and a tight setup gap between meal services. My team handled the full logistics chain. The restaurant's interior gave the panels a warm wood-and-fabric backdrop that the red read crisp against, and I sized the install to fit the photo zone without intruding on the dining flow.

A themed baby shower works when the theme is fully committed but never literal — strawberries everywhere, but the palette did the talking.
