Little Boo Baby Shower

Wyvernwood Private Home September 2025

About This Installation

A Halloween-inspired baby shower at a private home in Wyvernwood. I designed a black-and-white striped backdrop with ghost face foil balloons and organic garland in white, black, and fog. Custom print on the cake stand and bat sticker accents completed this playful spooky celebration.

The white, black, and fog palette pulled the Halloween brief into editorial territory — most spooky-themed showers reach for orange and purple and end up reading as a costume aisle. A baby shower has to photograph as composed regardless of theme, so I planned the three-tone monochrome to carry the seasonal mood through value contrast rather than novelty color. Under the Wyvernwood home's natural light, the black anchored the panel without flattening, fog held the middle as the cool neutral, and white kept the install from collapsing into a heavy frame.

The backdrop did the structural work. My team built the black-and-white striped panel in our studio — vertical stripe weight tuned so the contrast read at conversational distance without strobing on camera. Ghost-face foil balloons anchored the panel at the center, sized as the focal point of every cake-table photo. Organic garland in white, black, and fog draped across the top edge and spilled down one side, with the black weight set heavier at the base to ground the composition. Bat sticker accents were placed across the panel face at low density — three or four points, asymmetric, more like punctuation than pattern.

The cake stand carried a custom print, matched to the panel's stripe system so the foreground object and the backdrop spoke to each other rather than competing. The ghost-face foils were the only graphic element in the install, which is what allowed them to carry the theme alone — adding more Halloween motifs would have pushed the install from editorial restraint into novelty. Every fabricated piece was built or finished in-studio, including the panel, the cake stand print, and the vinyl bat accents.

A private home in Wyvernwood has the same constraints as any domestic install — fixed wall geometry, indirect daylight, no overhead control. I sized the panel to the home's dominant photo wall and kept the stripe pattern tight enough to hold its rhythm at close camera range. The bat stickers sat at heights that worked for floor-shot guest photos and seated cake-table frames without crowding the ghost-face foils above.

A Halloween-themed baby shower lives or dies on restraint — and holding the install to three tones is what kept the theme present without making the shower itself secondary.
