Chloe's Baptism — God Bless

The white, gold chrome, and cream palette was planned for outdoor daylight against a planted garden — chrome gold reads richest when it has natural light bouncing off it from the side, and a private Westwood residence in afternoon sun gave the chrome a much warmer cast than indoor LEDs would have. Cream held the composition together where pure white would have gone harsh in direct sun, and the chrome carried the only metallic note the palette needed.

Two panels, shaped as an open book. The book-shaped 3D backdrop sat with both panels angled inward, which gave the composition a built object to anchor the photographs around — flat backdrops disappear in outdoor light, dimensional ones hold. The gold ornamental vinyl cross was set into the right-hand panel and the 'God Bless Chloe' lettering carried across both pages in matching gold vinyl, sized so it read clean in wide garden shots and detail-tight in close-ups. Organic balloon garland in white, cream, and gold chrome draped across the top of both open pages and down the outer edges, framing the book shape without obscuring the lettering. A white round pedestal cake stand sat in the gap between the panels, where the spine of an open book would be.

My team built the book-shaped panels by hand in our studio — the curve along the page edges, the flat printable face, the gold vinyl application all done before delivery. The cross was CNC-cut from vinyl over a clean backing so the gold edge held sharp; printed gold on white panel reads dull at any distance, applied vinyl reads as actual metal under daylight. Biodegradable latex throughout the garland was the only choice for an outdoor residential install in a planted garden.

The Westwood residence offered what dedicated venues can't — a planted garden as the ambient frame, no overhead lighting fighting the install, and a sightline through to mature greenery behind the panels. I positioned the book panels so the garden read as the background of the photographs rather than the panels reading against architecture. The cake stand placement worked with the gap between the panels to draw the eye into the depth of the composition instead of across a flat plane.

The book shape did the theological work without sentimental signage — the form carried the meaning and let the palette stay restrained.
